Plans, organizes, and manages production operations for a specific department(s) across all shifts.

Helps to maintain a safe, healthy and organized working environment for all areas.

Plans and schedules work to meet production requirements while making effective use of labor, material, and equipment.

Coaches and reviews performance of direct reports.

Assures adherence to operating standards, assists in the coordination of production schedules and budget planning.

Interviews applicants and evaluates selection of new employees in hiring and transfer process.

Conducts training on new procedures and oversees new hire training.

Performs other duties as required.

Ensures the kiln equipment is working within specifications, safely and efficiently.

Ensures quality control measures are met.

Troubleshoots problems that present themselves at the exit (cracks, warpage, size etc.), identifies and resolves kiln issues and notifies upstream departments when upstream causes are identified.

Monitors the inventory of kiln consumables, including, but not limited to, rollers, roller bricks, baffles, burner blocks, hoses and similar items.

Monitors status of equipment and consumables and organizes/requests interventions to maintain optimal conditions (rollers change and cleaning, baffles and walls repair, other operations with maintenance support).

Ensures all personnel are trained on kiln standard operating procedures.

Coordinates maintenance needs for departmental operations.

Education and Knowledge:

Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience required. Requires knowledge of safety policy and procedures. Knowledge of ceramic manufacturing and quality standards preferred. Knowledge of Italian or Spanish a plus.


4 or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or related environment. Process expert through training and performing. 4 years of kiln experience. 10 years of ceramic experience.


Core competencies include strong communication skills, leadership skills, organizational and problem-solving skills, conflict resolution skills, and ability to analyze, plan, and schedule. Basic computer skills. Mechanical ability.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
