Automation Systems Engineer

We are seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to join our growing team!  This person will collaborate with third party contractors to help drive the automated warehouse expansion that's underway.  The ideal candidate is someone with Maintenance and Engineering experience whom enjoys being challenged, learning and being a part of a dynamic organization.   Duties and Responsibilities but are not limited to: Provide support during machine installations and upgrades. This includes interfacing auxiliary equipment, identifying errors in programming and wiring and ensuring vendors and contractors are meeting our design specifications Assist in, installation, and commissioning of automated material handling equipment and warehouse control system Review system layouts, schematics, field wiring, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), WCS (Warehouse Control System), servos, and other automation components. Assess and modify systems where system performance does not meet design specifications in close partnership with vendors. Perform and monitor troubleshooting of defective equipment and systems to determine root cause to correct problems. Troubleshoot automated material handling equipment (i.e., motors, scanners, VFDs, photoeyes, encoders, etc.) and other electrical control equipment. Identify spare parts needed for field requirements and manage spare part inventory Develop and execute Preventative Maintenance Program for automated equipment Utilize the Computerize Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) to manage and improve Preventive Maintenance (PM's) and spare parts usage Evaluate changes/upgrades to warehouse control systems and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Provide training for Maintenance Technicians on new control equipment or schedule outside training to enhance troubleshooting skills. Assist in resolving emergency breakdowns with minimal downtime Coordinate with vendors to provide adequate Preventative Maintenance (PM) and emergency repair to support operations. Pursue opportunities for cost reduction and profit improvement. Initiate Lean Manufacturing () and inventory reduction efforts Prepare justifications for capital projects and coordinate the completion of projects via in-house maintenance staff and/or outside contractors. Collaborate with co-located and remote colleagues to solve technical issues Develop and execute tests, document test results and research findings, log and track issues, issue resolution with verification of bug fixes, Manage a maintenance staff Work Environment: Fast paced work environment with, in and around industrial machinery Cold storage environment. Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 5+ Years of hands-on automated engineering experience in a Manufacturing / Warehouse Environment Experience with mechanical-electrical/mechatronic systems, motion control, PLC programming, Robotics programing, Vision systems and various electro-mechanical devices such as: servo motors Proven track record of designing, developing, testing methods that improve industrial automation, and hands-on technology experience with the motivation to continually invent technologies. Mechanically inclined, strong problem-solving skills, hands-on individual. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
